Balinese Dance and Culture Class (Allegra Ceccarelli)

About the Event
In this self-development artistic workshop, we will work with meditation, nature connection, balinese dance techniques and dance improvisation. The class is based in the balinese connection with art and spirituality. The Balinese dance-actor is a link between the material world and the spiritual world, he or she is an offering in movement, in direct contact with nature.
The Balinese dance is a super expressive art form that works the whole body (even the movement of the eyes) together in an asymmetrical and energetic way, providing participants the opportunity to go deeply inside themselves and discover new internal spaces that they never (or maybe rarely) reached before. Balinese dance gives the ability to "decolonize” minds and bodies, to get out of comfort zones and to connect with inner power. Be prepared to sweat (sweating is one of the ways Balinese people believe they heal themselves, purifying with their own water), but as well to have lots of fun. The Balinese culture is very interesting, unique and enjoyable!
Allegra Ceccarelli is an Italian Brazilian performer, actor, singer, dancer and researcher who has an MFA in acting from East 15 Acting School in London (University of Essex). In 2015, she got a scholarship to train traditional Balinese dance-theater at ISI Denpasar University in Bali and also with the Gurus Ibu Partini, Ketut Wirtawan and Made Cat, with whom she continues to develop her research. In 2018, she came back to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, and founded Baubo Cia Performática, where she creates feminist ritualistic art. Allegra is a nomad, traveling wherever her artistic work brings her.
